Coffee is coffee is coffee, but when you’ve got a backpack full of new roasts from around the country you want to try to brew the best cups of coffee as possible, as quickly as possible. At least I do, but that can be difficult. There are so many variables to brewing a cup of coffee at home—water-to-grind ratio, grind size, roast profile, brewing method. It can be frustrating to try dialing in a coffee only to realize there is just a few cups left back in the bag.
The variables don’t start at your home grinder either. Coffee roasters start with green coffee and need to make decisions on an entirely different set of variables before that coffee is ever shared with the world. Siri Simran Khalsa, Executive Director of Lofty Coffee, is back on the show to share some of what she does when she receives a new coffee, and we chat about dialing our the brews we prepare at home. I hope you enjoy the show.

Shout out to Justin Cygan at Bivouac Coffee Co. in Evergreen, Colorado. Justin made me a really good cappuccino, and I was really stoked to learn about Bivouac’s efforts in sustainability and creating an environmentally friendly company. Check out their website for details, and to see what they are roasting.
