Despite its clear appearance, the water we drink is filled with stuff. That stuff goes into the coffee you drink because most of that coffee is water. So…maybe we should take a harder look at the water we’re using in our coffee. At least I should.

FROM THE SHOW

The SCA technical specs for water, if you’re into that kind of science, are below. Click the image to download the original .PDF from the Specialty Coffee Association.

  • Third Wave Water is a company that creates mineral additive packets that can be added to distilled water to create water for coffee brewing that falls directly into the SCA water requirements above. Check them out here: thirdwavewater.com

  • The SCA sells a water quality handbook for $45 on their website.

ABORTIONFUNDS.ORG

I obviously want you to subscribe to this show. If you find value here, you can choose the paid option, which supports the creation of this podcast and newsletter. I’m incredibly grateful for everyone who has chosen that option. You’re a huge reason this show is going into the sixth season.

Roast! West Coast is a reader-supported publication. To receive new posts and support my work, consider becoming a free or paid subscriber.

But there are bigger things going on in the world. Frankly, there are always bigger things going on than this podcast, but this week, in particular, there are big things. So if you do decide to sign up for a paid subscription, I’ll send another donation to the National Network of Abortion Funds at Abortionfunds.org, or you can go right to abortionfunds.org and do so yourself.

The Network is actually a collection of more than 80 organizations that work to remove the barriers, some big fucking barriers, that may prevent someone from seeking abortion services or women’s reproductive health services. My wife and I donated to the organization earlier this year because we weren’t sure where the greatest need for funding was. The National Network of Abortion Funds which you can donate to at abortionfunds.org, helped solve that problem. They connect a diverse community of advocates across the country.

Thanks for subscribing to Roast West Coast and for supporting women’s reproductive rights, which should just fall under the general banner of rights, but somehow…

Here we are.
